Huis Clos

When Air De Paris asked me to put together a show for their online viewing room, I decided I would choose works concerned with ideas of isolation. In no way, though, did I want to put out yet another feel good, consoling message. I mean so many of these, in particular the Facebook commercial, make me want to puke. The facts are, in this time of lockdown, we sit here stranded, so there's no use to deny it.

Anyway, the works in this show follow a path of looking for a heterotopic space inside yet outside the daily world, a space of free play, purified, the virtual. Affects of separation then set in, loneliness, ranting against the powers outside, a nonfunctioning fire door, a fatal leap.
